Wat Phra Kaew

Wat Phra Kaew, widely known in English as the Emerald Buddha Temple and officially known as Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, is considered to be Thailand’s most sacred Buddhist temple. The complex consists of a variety of buildings within the Grand Palace precincts in Bangkok’s historic centre. It houses the Emerald Buddha statue which is venerated as the palladium of the nation.

Wat Pho

Wat Pho is best known for the Reclining Buddha Temple, where you’ll find such a big statue (45 meters long and 15 meters high) that can’t be seen in its entirety but only enjoyed in parts. The soles of the feet are especially exquisite, incrusted with a multitude of precious stones.

Giant Swing

One of Bangkok’s most eye-catching sights stands in the middle of the busy square across from Wat Suthat: the 27-meter-high teak frame of the so-called Giant Swing. Designed in the 1700s to be used as part of traditional Brahmin (Hinduist) rituals, the swing subsequently was destroyed by lightning and decorative only.

Adjacent to the Great Swing, Wat Suthat is one of the oldest and most majestic Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Three kings had a hand in its construction: it was started soon after the coronation of Rama I (founder of the Chakri dynasty) in 1782, continued by Rama II, and finished by Rama III ten years later.

Bangkok ‘s vast weekend semi-outdoor market is the world ‘s best. Anything from jewelry and religious objects to pet supplies, and tasty street food can be found here. Chatuchak Market is home to more than 15,000 stalls selling just about everything you might think up even better, any souvenir you may want is probably available here at a much cheaper price than anywhere else in Bangkok
